Weekly Style Inspiration. Swimwear Edition

Da quando ho partorito ringrazio ogni giorno chi ha deciso che gli indumenti a vita alta ritornassero di moda. Ovvero niente crop top per me! Ben vengano invece gli skinny jeans e leggings a vita alta e gonne midi che fan tanto vintage. Quest'anno vorrei optare per un costume a vita alta ma ci sono un paio di particolari che non mi convincono ancora:

1. Tutta quella tela bagnata non dara' fastidio?

2. Come mi stara'? E' chiaro che io non sono magra come le modelle di Asos : )

Since I gave birth I am so glad for the high waist garnments return. So no crop top for me! I have been living in high waisted skinny jeans and leggings and midi skirts, I love the Vintage look they give. So this summer I would like to buy a high waisted bikini but there's couple of things I am not sure about:

1. Once all that fabric gets wet will I be unconfortable?

2. How will I look? I am obviusly not as skinny as the Asos models : )

Long weekend in Barcelona.

Scusate se sono stata MIA, cosa vuol dire MIA? missing in action of course. Il fine settimana a Barcellona e' durato un po' piu' del previsto, giusto il tempo per esplorare meglio la citta' con i suoi vicoli e mangiare un boccone al bellissimo mercato della Boqueria.

Sorry if I have been MIA, what does MIA means? missing in action of course! The weekend in Barcelona became a long weekend and i got to enjoy this lovely city with his tiny streets and the colourful Boqueria Market.

Come un po' dappertutto anche qua e' scoppiata l'estate (che io adoro) anche se fa un gran caldo! Per fortuna i nostri amici vivono fuori Barcellona e hanno la piscina! I bimbi si son fatti dei grandi bagni mentre noi si chiaccherava nel prato. NOT. Mentre noi si gridava ogni 5 minuti "attento!" "mettiti i braccioli!" "adesso usciamo un po' dall'acqua che hai le labbra viola!"

Like everywhere else in South Europe Summer is in full force, I love Summer even if sometimes it's so hot you can hardly breath. Luckly for us our friends live outside Barcelona and they have a swimming pool! So the kids had so much fun in the water while we got to chat sitting on the grass. NOT. While we spend all the time screaming at them things like: "be careful!" "put your armbands back on!" "let's get out now you're lips are turning purple!

Che farete di bello questo fine settimana? Noi andiamo a trovare dei nostri amici che vivono in un paesino sul mare vicino Barcellona. Hanno 2 bimbi della stessa età dei nostri, sarà' un pazzo divertente weekend, più pazzo che divertente ma comunque...eheh! 

What are your plans for the weekend? We are going to visit our friends, they live in a small village by the coast near Barcelona and have 2 kids the same age as ours so it's going to be crazy fun! Ehm, probably more crazy than fun! Eh eh!

Weekly Style Inspiration. Home Edition

Ormai ho rinunciato all'idea di avere una casa tutta mia. La mia vita di Expat e' fatta di un presente in affitto o a casa di qualcuno. Ho imparato a non affezionarmi ai beni materiali cosi' poi non mi mancheranno ma soprattutto ho imparato ad adattarmi alle piu' svariate situazioni e ad apprezzare la bellezza del viaggio.

Ho imparato a chiamare casa diversi paesi senza mai sentirmi del tutto a casa. Il ricordo vivo della sensazione di sentirsi completamente al sicuro, la consapevolezza che si ha da bambini di appartenere ad un posto preciso e alla sua gente. Quella l'ho persa tempo fa. Ma forse la perdiamo tutti crescendo?

Tutto questo non mi impedisce di sognare una casetta tutta mia da arredare e per questo continuo a catalogare imperterrita immagini  di case, stanze, mobili, cucine e giardini. Perche' non sia mai che un giorno decida di fermarci in un posto per sempre.

I gave up on the idea of having my own place long time ago. My life as an expat is all about renting or staying with friends. I learned not to get too attached to "stuff" so I won't miss it when we move once again. I also learned to get used to all differend kinds of accomodations and to enjoy the beauty of travelling.

I learned how to call home different places without actually feel completly at home in any of them. The memory of feeling safe, the awarness of belonging into a place, being part of a community, that's long gone, but don't we all loose it growing up?

I still dream of a place that I can call home, a place I can decorate the way I like, that's why I can't stop pinning images of houses, rooms, furniture and gardens, who knows, maybe one day we'll decide to stop and stay for good.
